Motivation can be hard to come by, especially if you’ve found yourself slipping into a rut. It’s important to remember that however far away from your fitness, weight loss or health goal you are; it is possible. It’s always possible.

We’ve put together our top motivational tips to help you make 2016 your year…

Take Small Steps

If you haven’t exercised in years, it’d be unrealistic to expect your body to jump straight into intense exercise routines 4-5 times a week. Instead, take smaller steps & set yourself achievable goals. Whether it’s walking on the treadmill or going for a leisurely swim, your body will respond positively to it.

Remember, personal training sessions aren’t just for gym aficionados. Your personal trainer can talk you through steps to building up your confidence in the gym & put a plan together that suits you.

‘I get bored easily…’

Like anything in life, doing the same thing day in, day out can become monotonous. That’s why it’s so important to change up your workout from time to time. As soon as you start to feel bored, switch it up; that’s the beauty of joining a gym.

There are so many different types of gym exercises you can do and if you feel like you’d rather have a break from the gym, why not try booking yourself into a couple of classes, swimming, playing tennis or golf. The list is endless.

‘I don’t have time…’

This is one of the most common excuses when it comes to living a healthier lifestyle. Nowadays, we’re so busy it can be a struggle to fit in a gym routine after a long day or at the start of one. It’s important to achieve a good work life balance (which is something we’ll be touching on more in the coming weeks).

The saying ‘there is someone busier than you working out right now…’ might seem a little grating when you’re snowed under with work, but essentially, it’s true. A great motivational tool is to look at how some big names in the business world fit in time to work out. The internet is littered with articles like this, so get searching & you may realise there’s time in your day after all.

Plan ahead

Here’s a tip for those among you who slot into the ‘I don’t have time’ category. This is one of the best bits of advice. Each Sunday, take ten minutes to sit down and plan your week ahead. Look at your meetings, your schedule and the plans of partners, children or people you live with. Don’t let anything get in your way.

Slot in some non-negotiable workout time and stick to it. If picking up and dropping off your children from school or activities stops you, remember we have a Creche and other children’s activities available.

‘I don’t see results…’

You won’t see results overnight. Experts suggest you’ll feel a difference after a fortnight, but it may take up to two months for others to notice a difference on you.

Remain positive and visualise yourself as the healthier, stronger person you want to be. Exercising isn’t all about your outward appearance. It’s about your insides. A healthier lifestyle has so many benefits to every area of your body & mind, so dig a little deeper and don’t lose your motivation.

We hope these tips help! If you need any exercise advice, all of your gym staff will be happy to help you along your journey.
